oll.in — how the market actually talks.

A grounded listen into how everyday Swiss/DACH job seekers really describe the hunt — so oll.in's copy and distribution can mirror their language, not marketing's. The ten recurring pains in their own words, a DE/EN voice bank, six illustrative personas, and five honest copy proposals for the landing. Personas are synthetic composites — never real people or scraped quotes.

Part of the oll.in thread. This voice research feeds the copy in the launch & distribution kit and the message architecture of the landing case study. Read together: the kit is where and what to post; this page is how the market says it; the landing is where the words land.

⚠️ Method & honesty caveat — read first

  • Personas are illustrative synthetic composites — assembled from recurring patterns across public discussion, never real individuals and never scraped verbatim quotes attributed to anyone.
  • No fabricated statistics. Where a number appears (e.g. "100–150 applications"), it is a paraphrase of the kind of thing people say, not a measured figure. Volumes and pulls are to be confirmed in-browser.
  • Reddit and englishforum.ch block automated fetching, so the German and English phrasings below are grounded in real thread titles and opening snippets plus corroborating Swiss/German career sources (Red Cross, trade press, university career services, news). That makes them directionally reliable — verbatim pulls should be confirmed in a browser before any go live.
  • The honesty line holds: the agent prepares; the human reviews and sends. oll.in is early access, opening autumn 2026. No "Swiss-hosted" claim.

1What the market actually says

Ten recurring pains, in the community's own register. German pains stay in German, English in English — each a short paraphrased composite, with the channel it recurs on. This is the emotional map the landing copy has to meet.

1

The rejection-count scoreboard

People count their applications like a losing scoreboard — "sent 100–150 applications, 2 interviews in 4 months." DE: "kassiere ich eine Absage nach der anderen", "150 Bewerbungen, nur Absagen".

r/askswitzerlandr/Switzerlandr/Arbeitsleben
2

Self-blame — "what's wrong with me?"

The count curdles into self-doubt: "what am I doing wrong." The tone turns inward before it turns systemic.

r/Switzerlandr/askswitzerland
3

Ghosting as the norm

Silence after applying — and even after interviews — is expected, not exceptional. DE: "Ghosting von Bewerbern".

r/Switzerlandr/Arbeitslebenenglishforum
4

Motivationsschreiben / Anschreiben dread

The cover letter is a wall. DE: "keine Ahnung, was ich schreiben soll". Strongest among Pflege staff and recent graduates.

r/ArbeitslebenPflege forums
5

"Do I even need a cover letter?"

Trades openly resent it — "unnütze Zeitverschwendung, keine Romane" — and the trade press now tells employers to drop it.

r/askswitzerlandhandwerks-zeitung
6

German-vs-English / weak-German anxiety

"Impossible without German." Hochdeutsch ≠ Swiss-German; a B2 floor is assumed, C1 for senior roles. A recurring expat wall.

englishforumr/askswitzerland
7

The Arbeitszeugnis "secret code"

Fear that bland, correct-sounding reference wording secretly encodes a negative verdict — and that they can't tell.

r/Switzerlandr/askswitzerland
8

Anerkennung chicken-and-egg

Foreign-qualification recognition is a loop. Pflege staff ask the SRK question: "Job oder Anerkennung zuerst?" — plus fees and a dreaded ~4-month wait.

redcross.chenglishforumr/askswitzerland
9

"It's all about who you know"

Vitamin B rules; newcomers feel they start from zero network and can't compete on the hidden market.

englishforumr/askswitzerland
10

No-experience catch-22 + salary uncertainty

"ohne Erfahrung kein Job", "Bachelor keine Jobgarantie", and the Gehaltsvorstellung dread — "what number do I name?"

20min.chr/Arbeitslebenr/Switzerland

Bonus recurring threads

Quereinsteiger fear being walled out of a field without a formal Ausbildung — the system feels closed. And RAV bureaucracy is described as demoralizing on its own, before the job search even starts.

2Voice & vocabulary bank

The words to mirror — and the words that repel. Match the venue's language: German venues get the German column, English venues the English one. Never machine-translate one into the other.

3Six grounded personas

Illustrative synthetic composites — not real individuals. Each bundles a real, recurring situation into one character so the copy has a face to speak to. "Trusts oll.in if…" is the honesty gate each persona applies before believing us.

MarinaPflegefachfrau · DE → Aargau/Zürich

Exhausted by Schichtdienst; feels "unterbezahlt und wenig wertgeschätzt." Frozen at the Motivationsschreiben — "keine Ahnung, was ich schreiben soll." Lost in SRK recognition: "Job oder Anerkennung zuerst?" Tried a generic Vorlage; it wasn't "mit Herz."

Trusts oll.in if it demystifies SRK in plain language and writes a warm, honest letter without making her sell herself.

Reach: Pflege FB groups · krankenschwester.de · German LinkedIn

DejanQuereinsteiger · 34 · Bern

Out of retail, changing fields. Fears the apprenticeship system walls him out; carries an imposter feeling. His ChatGPT letter "klingt generisch, nicht echt."

Trusts oll.in if it translates transferable experience into Swiss-employer language and reads echt / organisch, not templated.

Reach: r/Arbeitsleben · r/askswitzerland · German LinkedIn

RetoSanitär-Installateur / Handwerker · Luzern

"Motivationsschreiben ist unnütze Zeitverschwendung, meine Arbeit spricht für sich." Time-poor, mobile-only, would rather do a Probearbeiten. Has Fachkräftemangel leverage but doesn't use it.

Trusts oll.in only if "kein Motivationsschreiben, keine Romane — 5 Minuten vom Handy" and it helps him say "neue Herausforderung" without badmouthing the old boss.

Reach: trade job boards · WhatsApp / word-of-mouth · mobile-first

PriyaExpat · Zürich · applying in German, weak German

Strong international CV that "just disappears"; classic catch-22. Unsure whether to dumb down the CV or add a photo. Ghosted on English applications.

Trusts oll.in if it produces a correct Swiss-norm German dossier and is honest that German still matters — no false comfort.

Reach: englishforum.ch employment · r/Zurich · r/askswitzerland · expat groups

SabrinaRecent FH-Absolventin · Basel

"100+ Bewerbungen, nur Absagen oder Funkstille." Every entry-level role wants 3 years. Drifting from self-blame to "the system is rigged." Wants to be seen — one real reply. ChatGPT letters feel hollow.

Trusts oll.in if the pitch is "damit du endlich eine Antwort bekommst" plus realistic Lohn benchmarks.

Reach: r/Arbeitsleben · FH career channels · LinkedIn

ThomasGastro / Verkauf · St. Gallen · career-change bridge

Long hours, low pay, "keine Zeit." Eyeing a move off the frontline into an office role but unsure how to present his experience for it.

Trusts oll.in if it finds fitting roles and drafts each application so he only reviews and sends.

Reach: r/Switzerland · local FB groups · WhatsApp

4Copy implications — proposals for the landing

Five moves the voice research suggests for the landing. Framed as proposals, not decisions — each one keeps the honesty line intact (agent prepares, human sends; no guarantees; no "Swiss-hosted").

1  Lead with being SEEN, not "we write your letter"

The loudest emotion is rejection / ghosting fatigue — so lead there, not with the feature. EN: "Stop disappearing into the pile." DE: "Schluss mit dem Absagen-Frust — damit du endlich eine Antwort bekommst."

2  Normalize first, then help

Mirror the respected forum answer that lands: "Nothing's wrong with you — you're up against 200–1000 people. Here's what actually changes the odds." Defuses the self-blame (pain #2) before pitching anything.

3  Make "you review and send" a HEADLINE promise

Not fine print — a headline. It directly defuses the AI-spam objection this audience carries. DE: "Der Agent bereitet alles vor — du prüfst und schickst ab."

4  Turn Swiss-specific unknowns into trust hooks

The uncertainty is the wedge: Bewerbungsfoto ja/nein, Swiss CV norm, German-vs-English dossier, Gehaltsvorstellung wording, and a plain-language SRK / Anerkennung "which step first" explainer. "We handle the Swiss-specific stuff so you don't have to guess."

5  Segment the voice by trade

Pflege: "ohne dich zu verkaufen." Handwerker: "kein Motivationsschreiben, keine Romane — 5 Minuten vom Handy." Grads / expats: "endlich gesehen werden / a correct Swiss dossier." Plain, warm, Du in German, Floskel-free — and never over-promise a job.

§Sources & grounding

Grounded in real threads and thread-titles across r/askswitzerland, r/Switzerland, r/Arbeitsleben, r/AskaGerman, r/Zurich, r/Bern and the englishforum.ch employment section, plus corroborating Pflege / Handwerk / graduate sources — redcross.ch, krankenschwester.de, deutsche-handwerks-zeitung.de, 20min.ch, fhnews.ch, careerservices.uzh.ch, and similar.

Reddit and englishforum.ch block automated fetch, so the phrasings here are grounded in real thread titles / opening snippets plus these corroborating sources — directionally reliable. Verify verbatim pulls in-browser before any copy goes live.
