Tonight I put a small, honest tool on the internet. You can type the truest, hardest sentence you've got — "my mother is dying and I'm angry at God" — and instead of a platitude, you get real scripture back. Cited. Book, chapter, verse. Not a verse that pattern-matches the word "angry." The verses that actually meet the ache: laments, the Psalms that yell at God, the ones that sit in the dark with you. Free. The rule I built it around: cited, or it says nothing. If the honest match isn't there, it abstains — it will not invent a reference to look helpful. No made-up "John 3:16-ish" comfort. It's a research assistant, not a ghostwriter. A librarian who hands you the passage and gets out of the way — not a machine pretending to be the voice of God. That line is on the page, because it's the point.

The trick that makes it feel like it "gets it": Before searching, it steps back and asks what you actually NEED, not what you typed. "angry at God" becomes lament, protest, unanswered prayer — then it searches for THAT. Under the hood: every verse of the World English Bible embedded as vectors, searched by meaning (not keywords), with an honest relevance floor so a weak match becomes silence, not a fabricated citation. Pin the best verse, expand for the surrounding chapter when you want the context.
