humaniz, ready to ship

The engineering is done — humaniz.me is live and the prompt is fixed. The gap is distribution. This is everything copy-paste-ready so showing up takes minutes, not a planning session. Drafts only — nothing here is posted or sent.

⚠️ Two honesty checks before you use any of this

  • Don't claim a hosting location or name the provider. Earlier reports leaned on a "Swiss-hosted" wedge — that's not true and is dropped everywhere. The privacy angle is the true one: your text isn't used to train any model (note: results are cached, so don't claim "never stored"). The real wedge isn't geography at all — it's pay-once / any-model. The copy below uses only those true claims.
  • humaniz is an honest clarity tool — every template keeps it that way. No "beat the detector," no "pass off AI work." For wrongly-flagged people, the real help is the appeal with evidence; humaniz is mentioned only as a clarity aid. Judge each live thread on that line before replying.

The plan — three moves this week

From Report 1: every comparable tool (QuillBot, Wordtune, Undetectable AI) got its first users from a free tool + organic distribution — none bought ads. Ranked by probability of your first stranger dollar: directories (compounding, do today) · Reddit value-first (days-to-payment) · email your 4 signups (warmest leads). Product Hunt and ads come later.

Move 1 — directory blitz (≈1 hour, all free)

Submit once to each. Compounding SEO + buyer-intent referral traffic. Paste the blocks below into each form. Do-first order (best effort-to-value): The Next AI → SaaSHub → FutureTools → Toolify → TAAFT → AlternativeTo.

The paste blocks draft — edit freely

Long description · ~150 wordshumaniz.me is an honest writing-improvement tool. Paste a draft that reads stiff, over-formal, or "robotic," and it rewrites it into clear, natural prose — without changing your meaning, facts, or voice. It's built for two kinds of people: writers and professionals who want tighter, more readable prose, and anyone — students, non-native English speakers — whose own writing reads more stiffly than they'd like. It is deliberately NOT a way to cheat or to evade AI detectors. It's a clarity tool, and it says so. The difference shows up in the output: varied sentence rhythm, plain words instead of thesaurus words, no filler, your voice intact. Powered by Claude through a model gateway, privacy-first (your text isn't used to train any model). Free to try; Pro unlocks longer documents and unlimited rewrites. If your writing sounds more like a textbook than like you, humaniz helps it sound human — honestly.

Move 2 — Reddit, value-first (the highest-probability first dollar)

The rule from every comparable founder: "websites don't have Reddit accounts; a Redditor can have a website." Help genuinely, link only in your bio, keep a ~4:1 help-to-mention ratio. Put humaniz.me in your profile, not your comments.

Reply template A — "my own writing was wrongly flagged" draft

That's a stressful spot, and you're not imagining it — detectors throw a lot of false positives, especially on formal, evenly-paced writing. They're scoring how predictable and uniform the text is, not whether a human wrote it, so careful textbook-style prose trips them more than messy prose does. The thing that actually resolves it is the appeal, so lead with evidence: version history (Google Docs keeps a full one), your drafts, notes, references. Most honest false-positive cases are won by showing your process — ask for the chance to. Separately, if your writing tends to read stiffly in general, loosening it helps it sound more like you: vary sentence length, cut filler, prefer active voice, read it aloud. (Full disclosure — I build a small honest clarity tool, humaniz, that does that kind of rewrite, so I'm biased; the manual version above works fine.)

Reply template B — "my writing sounds robotic / stiff" draft

A few things that reliably de-stiffen writing: • Vary sentence length on purpose — put a short, blunt sentence next to a long one. Uniform rhythm is what reads "robotic." • Cut hedging and filler ("it is important to note," "in order to," "the fact that"). • Prefer active voice and contractions. • Read it aloud — anywhere you'd never actually say it that way, rewrite it. • Drop the thesaurus words; plain ones read more human. (Disclosure: I built a tool, humaniz, that automates this clarity pass — biased, obviously. But the list above is the core of what it does, so you can do it by hand too.)

Both follow the house honest-reply standard: acknowledge → standalone advice that helps even if they never click → disclosed mention only if it genuinely fits → no call-to-action, no link.

Move 3 — email your 4 signups (today, personally)

Your warmest leads. Manual beats automated at this scale — real conversation converts and gives priceless feedback.

Subjectyou tried humaniz — what were you fixing?
Body · draftHi [name], I'm Sam — I built humaniz.me, and I saw you signed up. Thank you. I'm trying to make it genuinely useful, so the one thing I'd love to know: what were you trying to fix when you came by? Anything that annoyed you or didn't work the way you hoped? As a thank-you I've turned on a free week of Pro for you — no catch. (If it's not on yet, just reply and I'll switch it.) And if one person comes to mind who'd find it useful — a classmate, a colleague who writes a lot — I'd be grateful if you passed it along. Thanks, Sam

Bonus — build-in-public thread (tonight's story) draft

A slower-burn channel, but tonight has a real story with genuine lessons. Post the lessons, not the brag. Each line is one tweet.

X / LinkedIn thread · draft1/ humaniz.me was crash-looping 770 times. The fix was one merge. The lessons took the whole night. 🧵 2/ The crash: the backend refused to boot — "missing ANTHROPIC_API_KEY." But humaniz doesn't use Anthropic; it routes every model call through a gateway (an open model by default). The fix was already written in an unmerged PR. Merged it → booted clean → working again. 3/ Then I cleaned up dead code from the refactor and dropped two "unused" Python deps. CI went red. One of them — email-validator — had zero imports in the code... but pydantic imports it at runtime for email fields. grep-dead ≠ actually-dead. That's why every cleanup ships as a PR. 4/ The real fix was the boring one: the output rambled because the PROMPT was under-constrained, not because the model was wrong. Told it to return only the rewrite, wrapped the user's text in tags so it stops "editing" the surrounding UI, and banned the AI-tell filler words. Crisper instantly. 5/ Lessons: (1) fail-fast boot gates are a feature — they tell you exactly what's wrong. (2) ship every cleanup as a PR and let CI catch the framework-magic dependencies. (3) when an AI tool rambles, fix the prompt before you blame the model. 6/ humaniz.me is an honest writing tool — it makes stiff drafts read clearly. Nothing sketchy, no detector games. Built in public.
